Kindergarten Science and PE

Hello! My name is Elizabeth Sutton and I am so excited to be returning to the LAHA staff as the Kindergarten Science and PE tutor!

My husband Trevor and I live in Okemos, Michigan with our daughters, Grace and Hannah, and our very energetic puppy, Maggie! For the past 14 years, I have had the privilege of supporting my husband’s ministry at our church campuses in both Haslett and Lansing. 

During this time, I have enjoyed serving in our children’s ministries, specifically through teaching Discipleship classes, delivering children’s messages, and leading Vacation Bible School.

I graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Education in 2005 and taught 1-3 grades for five years before God called me to be a full-time stay-at-home mother and homeschool teacher. Having attended and taught in public schools, I always knew I wanted something different for my own children. However, I never had the courage to try homeschooling until 2020.  Like so many others, the pandemic forced me to slow down and examine the type of education I could provide for my children within the community of other homeschooling families. If you would have told me 20 years ago that I would be a pastor’s wife and home schooling my children, I wouldn’t have believed it! I am so grateful that God has provided me with the opportunity to serve and grow closer to Him and my family in ways that I couldn’t have imagined on my own.  

In addition to serving at our church, I enjoy hiking, reading historical fiction, and gardening. Our family also had the opportunity to spend some time traveling in Europe this summer as part of my husband’s sabbatical time. What a blessing!

It has been a great joy to watch my own children grow in their knowledge and faith at LAHA over the last five years as well as to see the strong relationships they have formed with friends and tutors alike. I am so grateful to be a part of this community, and I look forward to connecting with our new Kindergarten friends and sharing my passion for learning about God’s amazing creation!
